Most of my day was devoted to working on a staged reading of a play called Death. Sounds like a big ball of sunshine, huh? I got hooked into it by my good friend Samantha Hale. She recommended me to the director Suzanne whom I was already acquainted. Anyway, considering we only had three days to work on it, I thought the performance this evening went extremely well. The play's a bit of a downer; the plot circles around the death of this Japanese woman and how everyone comes to terms with her dying. Death is actually a character in the play and he is ever present throughout. Still, the darn thing grew on me, and I found myself wanting to continue working on it after the performance.
Backing up a bit, on Monday, I was up in Calabasis doing some hair modeling. Alright, here's the story. There's a company called "Thursday's" up in Calabasis that specializes in hair and skin treatment. Weeks ago, I went in and they made a mold of my head. (I didn't realize at the time, but this was to make a sophisticated lace hair piece for me.) On Monday, I was fitted with the piece and they took before/after shots to use in their promos. If anyone is interested, I'll email the pics as soon as I get them. In truth, I was surprised how good I looked, but I decided to have it removed at the end of the day. Who knows, maybe in a couple more years, when I give into vanity I might have it done.
What really killed the idea of me keeping it was the fact that I would have to come in once a month and have it maintained. Plus, I would have to shave the top of my head so it would fit snuggly. The pieces are freaking $2500 for two, so it was cool that they left me keep it when I left. I figure I can apply it myself with spirit gum, right? And the best news of all, they cut me a check as soon as I was done. So, I can now say that I'm a payed model. Woo-hoo!
